Potatoes Au Gratin

 

2 lbs Potatoes (Peeled and thinly sliced) - Regular Brown potatoes or Red Potatoes work best

Salt

Black Pepper

8 oz Lactose-free Cheddar Cheese

1-1/2 cups Lactose-free Whole Milk (can use 1-1/4 cup lactose-free Whole Milk and 1/4 cup lactose-free plain yoghurt mixed to make a thicker consistency)

 

Pre-heat over to 400º.

Lightly grease dish with butter (9x13 deep cake pan works best)

Cover bottom of pan with overlapping layer of potatoes.  Lightly season with salt and pepper and top with layer of cheese (not too thick) about 2 Tblsp.  Continue layering potatoes, seasoning and cheese - ending with cheese on top.

 

Pour milk (or milk mixture) over the potatoes, pressing lightly with your hands until the potatoes are covered with the milk mixture.   Cover with Foil, bake until tender and absorbed .  (Approx 50 min.)   Take off foil and bake for another 10 minutes.
